KIDLITVIC 2025 - ASSESSMENT GUIDELINES
Congratulations if you have purchased an assessment at KidLitVic 2025!
A KidLitVic Assessment is a twelve minute one-to-one meeting with an attending publishing professional of your choice to discuss your manuscript or illustrations.
Paid assessments are ONLY available to conference attendees.
You will be notified of your exact Assessment timeslot one week prior to the conference and it will be within the hour block that you booked.
Assessments are available for Authors and Illustrators
For Authors
For Your submission package you may submit either:
10 pages of a manuscript
OR
Up to 2 picture books (the word count must not exceed 1000 words in total)
PLUS a 100 word synopsis and a 50 word bio.
Manuscript Assessment submissions should be;
· 12 point font size; Times New Roman font
· Double-spaced text
· 2.5 cm margins
· Please indent to show paragraphs
**Please include your Bio, Synopsis and Manuscript/Manuscripts into ONE Document per assessor
On conference day bring a printed copy of your submitted manuscript/s, notepad and pen
For Illustrators
For an Illustrator portfolio Assessment you have the opportunity to present to your chosen publishing professional 10 single sheets/portfolio that you will bring on the day of the conference.
To allow your assessor to familiarise themselves with your work we request that you submit an "Introduce yourself" single A4 page containing:
· Name
· Email Address
· Bio 100 words maximum
· Website if applicable
· Social media Links if applicable
· Up to 3 sample illustration images
A sample is at bottom of page.
On conference day you may bring the following
· Max Size is A3 portfolio
· Up to 10 single pages or up to 5 x double sided pages
· Single or multiple illustrations per page is acceptable.
· Do NOT include original artwork
· Copy of your A4 "introduce yourself" sheet previously submitted to leave with your assessor.
Please note that if you are also displaying your folio you can collect it from the display area prior to your assessment.
